Born among the vineyards of
Wuerttemberg, a wine growing region of Southern
Germany bordering the Black Forest, Alex came to
Canada at an early age and is continuing a long
tradition in wine. This family history in wine can be
traced back with few interruptions to the year 1100.
Whether it is from viticulture, the growing of the grape
vines or simply from enjoying wines, there is probably
more wine in his veins than blood.
Even though Alex' career in Canada was one in the field of law enforcement,
writing had become more than just a passion. As a member of The Outdoor Writers of Canada, he
was instrumental in starting the Ontario Fisherman and Hunter,
an outdoors magazine that still is read today by most Ontario outdoors enthusiasts under the name of Out of Doors.
From the outdoors media that included his radio program that ran for many years under Trailblazers,
his first book 30 Fishing Hotspots became an instant best-seller. Alex eventually ventured into the field of travel-writing and,
together with his wife Judy, an accredited travel and nature photographer and also a member of TMAC,
he travels extensively and writes regularly for a number of lifestyle magazines and newspapers in Canada and abroad.
His most recent published book of short stories covering his experiences and adventures as a travelling wine-writer can be
ordered by clicking on VINO VERITAS. Alex' passion for nature, boating, history, culture, food and
wine from all around the world has put him in a niche market seldom
covered by the mainstream media. This assures him a regular and
diverse readership. Alex is available for presentations and
seminars; inquiries should be made by contacting him by
e-mail.
